Coaches

We are very excited to offer a great group of adult coaches that is joined by an exciting group of junior coaches.

Cos DiFazio ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) is in his 8th year with BASS and is the Head Site Coach for the BASS groups that practice at Health Nutz. He currently works as a senior software architect for Nortel Communications. He has over 30 years of coaching experience at the USS level and is regarded as one of the finest stroke technicians in Virginia. He has coached Olympic Trial Qualifiers, national champions, national record holders, as well as numerous High School All Americans, top 16 nationally ranked swimmers, state record holders, and state champions. He helped start the Fluvanna High School Swim Club and was instrumental in helping it become a varsity sport. .

Diana Bowen ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) just completed her first winter as a BASS coach is in her second season of coaching with FAST. Diana competed competitively for 12 years and has coached for the past six. Diana is enjoying her transition to FAST and will work with all age groups.

Pauline Hartwell ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) has coached with BASS two years and is now in her third years as a coach with FAST Three summers ago she was the 8 & Under specialist with the Lake Monticello Swim Team. She continues expand her role in the BASS program to coach all levels of the BASS program. She has been involved in swimming consistently for the last nine years in Virginia and New Orleans. She was also a past parent's president of the Lake Monticello Swim Team.

Greg Switzer ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) works as a Senior Financial Consultant for TIAA-CREF. He has been involved with USA Swimming for 5 years. Greg started in Pittsburgh where he got his USA certification as a Stroke & Turn Official. He brought his experience to Virginia in 2005 and also became USA certified as a Starter. In addition to his officiating experience, he has helped coach the pre-senior group of BASS for the past 2 years, assisted with the Winter Stroke Clinics and helped coach the older swimmers on the summer swim team.

Justin Hartwell ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) captain of Fluvanna County High School team and competes for the Fluvanna Aquatic Sports Team during the summer and BASS year round. He has coached for FAST last two seasons and served as a BASS agegroup coach this winter.

Sean Purnell ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) recently graduated from Fluvanna High School and coaches as well as swam with us last summer.He is now a student at VMI. He joined the BASS coaching staff last fall.
