Wednesday, June 16th sees the FAST Makos taking on the sharks of LMST at LMST.  We are kicking the season off with a Western theme so bring out the boots, cowboy hats and anything else that brings out the cowboy/girl in you (leave the sharp shooters at home please!) and meet us in the grassy area outside the LMST pool for stretches around 4:45 pm.

The team invites families to grab a bite to eat after the meet at El Vaquerro next to CVS.  While they usually close at 10, they have agreed to stay open later this Wednesday for the team.  Hope to see you there.

We will also have a Swim Team Community Fundraiser at this meet.  As many of you know, with budget cuts some of the FCHS sports programs are going to see budget cuts this year.  The FCHS Swim Coach has been informed that the HS swimming program will not be cut but there will not be additional funds for equipment and they may not be able to provide financial support to help send swimmers who qualify to state championships.  In the past, many of the summer swimmers from LMST and FAST have qualified for districts, regionals and state swimming championships.  We would like to show our support for swimming in Fluvanna by having a loose change collection at this meet between the two county teams to advance swimming in Fluvanna County.  We hope you will consider bringing your loose change to the meet .

Due to the short turn around time we had with the season just starting and the original date, we have decided to reschedule this event for Julyl.  Please watch your email and this website for more information on this event.

 

FAST is taking it's annual tubing trip down the James on Saturday, June 19th.  We will meet at James Reeling and Rafting in Scottsville at 12:30 for a 1:00 launch.  You are welcome to invite friends and family to join us on this adventure but there are a limited number of spots available.  Reservations are due Thursday, June 10th at the conclusion of the 6:30 practice at Camp Friendship.  There will be a place to sign-up and turn in payments and forms at the Intra-Squad meet on Wednesday, June 9th.  It is $20 per participant and $8 for a cooler tube.  It is open to participants 7 years and older.

So grab your suit and some river shoes and join Coach Cos on a float down the James!

We just received word that Health Nutz will be closing today at 1:00 pm and they have canceled our practice for this afternoon from 4-6 pm.   Please take time to enjoy the winter wonderland with your family and friends!

Olympic Gold Medalist Natalie Coughlin was the most decorated female US Olympian at both the 2004 and 2008 Olympic Games. Now she looks to become the most decorated dancer on ABC's hit "Dancing with the Stars."

Natalie makes her "Dancing" debut tonight at 8 pm ET/PT. The show will air an unprecedented 3 times this week, with subsequent shows on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Of course, the best way to show Natalie support is to vote. Phone numbers are provided during the show!
