2008 QDD Fall Festival Swim Meet Oct 18-19 The QDD October 18-19th Manassas meet is approaching and I wanted to list some useful information. Attached document to this are the meet events per day for your review. For the swimmers who plan on staying overnight in a hotel in Manassas, I listed three hotels with the prices I found on the internet. The internet site WWW.kayak.com seems to find the best hotel deals. Here are the hotels that are nice and close (12 min) to the Freedom Center. The QDD meet is approaching. For the families who need to stay in a hotel, I am listing three hotels in which are close together and are reasonable. All of these are close to Freedom Center. (about 12 min). I always stay at the Country Inn because it has a great breakfast buffet and has clean rooms. I also have posted the directions to the meet from these hotels. After the meet, you may want to visit some close by free attractions. The Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center is an air and space museum that would be a great educational and fun. Thursday, October 2nd, is the deadline for entering swimmers into the first US Swimming Meet of the season. The first meet is October 18th & 19th at the Freedom Aquatic Center in Manassas. By now, you should have received your Team Unify log-in and password via email from Coach Cos. Please take the time to log-in to the website (you can use the Meet Entry System Tab on our website) to let us know if you are planning on attending or not. A nice feature of this new system is that you can indicate you are NOT coming so we know why you haven't entered events. Each swimmer can enter a maximum of 4 events per day and each day is treated separately. Please take the time to log-in, pick your events or let us know you will not be attending ASAP. Once you have your account information you can click the Meet Entry System Link on this web site's left hand menu to take you there. If you haven't received your password or have questions on which events to swim, please contact Coach Cos via email at

Quick reminder that even though Fluvanna County schools have early dismissal this Friday and are off from school on the following Monday and Tuesday, we will have practice at our normally scheduled times. Our closings are independent of the Fluvanna County school closings. This also true of school closings due to inclement weather. We will announce afternoon and evening practice closings at 1:00 pm by email and on this web site. |

Would you like to get a front row seat at each meet? Would you like to better understand each stroke your child swims?? Would you like to save money on your taxes??? If your answer was "yes" to any of these questions, then we can help. We are looking for new stroke and turn officials to help with winter and summer meets. As an official you will be on deck to watch every race. You will learn the mechanics of all four strokes (back, breast, fly and free) and what makes each stroke legal and illegal. As a trained volunteer you will be able to deduct your travel expenses (mileage, meals, hotel, etc) from your taxes.
